Job description

Monmouth University is seeking applications for On-Call Nurse Practitioners in the Health Center.
The candidate would be expected to: conduct patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting to the Health Center with illness or injury; treatment is in accordance with evidence-based practice; within the scope of licensure for N.J. advanced practice nurses and in conjunction with Joint Protocols of Practice; perform specimen collection including phlebotomy and conduct CLIA-waived testing for samples collected; order diagnostic tests as appropriate to presenting condition; review, evaluate and provide treatment based upon diagnostic findings.
This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting to the Health Center with illness or injury. Treatment is in accordance with evidence-based practice; within the scope of licensure for N.J. advanced practice nurses and in conjunction with Joint Protocols of Practice.
  • Perform specimen collection including phlebotomy and conduct CLIA-waived testing for samples collected. Order diagnostic tests as appropriate to presenting condition. Review, evaluate and provide treatment based upon diagnostic findings.
  • Provide preventive immunizations, allergy injections and screenings for tuberculosis.
  • Provide women's services to include gynecological examinations, pregnancy and STI testing and counseling and prescribe birth control options.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Current NJ licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current NJ licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)
  • Clinical experience in an ambulatory or similar setting with an adolescent and/or adult population
  • Ability to diagnose and prescribe for common, acute episodic illness and injury
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately
