Description

As a Masking Trainee, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills through our masker certification program. Maskers apply a variety of paint coatings, primers, dry film lubricant and maskants such as tapes and plugs to required areas of parts to protect the areas from processing of plating finishes.


Shift:

1st Shift-Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm or 2:15pm-10:45pm


Responsibilities:

  • Performs cleaning and preparation of customer product for masking and / or coating process using basic cleaning/preparatory techniques
  • Learn and perform small brush painting with high detail, application with a needle-tip syringe, and tape masking application on areas of parts that require different finishes
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and customer work orders (Traveler)
  • Physically working with hands to accurately mask certain surfaces of parts to protect them from the finish process applied utilizing tapes or other masking materials
  • Working with and around solvent cleaners and paint materials such as acetone, alcohol, MEK, paints, etc.
  • Proper use of masking tools such as razor blades, wire cutters, insertion tools, pliers, etc.
  • At times, may be required to work on production floor to assist plater by racking and/ or packing parts
  • Willingness and commitment to wear PPE regularly, including safety glasses and cut resistant gloves

Requirements

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Creativity and artistic ability
  • Good hand to eye coordination
  • Experience with plating or finishing processing is a plus
  • Capable of working diligently around chemicals
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  • Ability to pass an eye exam including a color-blind test
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
