Job description

The Model Maker 1 responsibilities include but are not limited to fabricating prototypes parts from sketches and prints, assembling engineering prototype units for testing in engineering labs.

Position Responsibilities may include:

  • Set-up and operate various machines to bore, cut, drill, form, grind, mill, shape, turn, etc.
  • Assemble, fit, and adjust numerous components, details, and mechanisms to obtain accurate alignment, clearance, relationship, and operation.
  • Fabricate parts from prints, sketches, or various devices and recommendations.
  • Support building prototype and developmental units for testing and for fit and function of design.
  • Maintain an organized workstation and practice good housekeeping.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, policies, and practices as well as company standards and quality control procedures.
  • To manufacture, create basic parts and assemble parts to make working prototype and working 3D models of new designs or design improvements on product for testing and fit and function.
  • Perform other job duties as needed and required.

Nature & Scope:

  • Works within well-defined instructions and processes and under guidance.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good communication skills.

  • Brazing Certification (in house training).
  • Welding Certification a plus.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • It requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods.
  • Good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to use full range of motion.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
