Job Title: Construction Site Safety Coordinator

Job Location: Byhalia, MS (onsite)

Job Type: Full-time Permanent / Direct Hire

Pay Range: $100,000 โ€“ $130,000 / year + Benefits

Job Description :

Position Summary

We are seeking a Site Safety Coordinator to support construction project activities by promoting a safe work environment, coordinating site safety programs, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, company standards, and project-specific safety requirements. This role will work closely with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to identify risks, coordinate hazardous work activities, and implement safety procedures throughout the project lifecycle.

This is an onsite position supporting a construction project, with opportunities for continued involvement on future projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Planning & Project Preparation
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of site-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Review project documentation to ensure safety requirements are incorporated during project planning and execution.
  • Assist with contractor and supplier prequalification processes related to safety performance and compliance.
  • Support project teams in preparing safety-related requirements before site mobilization.
  • Verify that required certifications, training, and qualifications meet applicable regulatory and project standards.
  • Coordinate safety onboarding and orientation programs for site personnel.
  • Site Mobilization & Setup
  • Assist with site setup activities, including safety signage, access controls, fencing, designated work areas, and emergency preparedness measures.
  • Ensure safety plans and procedures are communicated and understood by all project participants.
  • Daily Site Safety Coordination
  • Coordinate safety activities among contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders working in shared work areas.
  • Monitor site activities to identify hazards and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
  • Support permit-to-work processes for high-risk and hazardous work activities.
  • Participate in and facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and daily coordination discussions.
  • Conduct field observations and site inspections to verify compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Promote incident prevention, hazard reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and project documentation.
  • Weekly & Monthly Activities
  • Lead recurring safety coordination meetings with contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in site safety walks, audits, and inspections.
  • Review safety performance metrics and identify corrective actions when needed.
  • Prepare and distribute regular safety status reports and project updates.
  • Ensure safety plans remain current and reflect project changes and evolving site conditions.


Required Qualifications

  • OSHA 1926 certification or equivalent construction safety training.
  • Experience supporting construction site safety programs and field operations.
  • Knowledge of construction safety regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident prevention practices.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and work activities in active construction environments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work onsite and perform regular field inspections.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a Site Safety Coordinator, Safety Specialist, Safety Representative, or similar construction safety role.
  • Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, contractor safety management, and safety reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of site-specific safety planning and construction project safety coordination.
  • Experience facilitating safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
  • Professional safety certifications and additional construction safety training are a plus.
