Job description

Fann Contracting, Inc - Northern Arizona's leading heavy-civil and heavy-highway contractor is searching for an Experienced Mobile Aggregates Crushing Plant Operator to join our team! This full-time position is open immediately for qualified candidates.
Our family-owned 60-year company specializes in mass excavation, rock handling, underground utilities, private and public infrastructure, asphalt paving, aggregate crushing, asphalt hot plant production, and much more. Our projects include public and private entities including ADOT, FHWA, BIA, city and county municipalities, private residential and commercial developments.
Crusher Operators at Fann Contracting may work throughout the entire state of Arizona and may be required to be on their projects from 4 to sometimes 7 days per week. Travel will often be necessary and overtime frequent due to project schedules. The right candidate will have experience operating and maintaining mobile crushing plants with the ability to always work safely. All positions at Fann Contracting are considered safety sensitive which generally means that these positions involve some aspect of a heightened danger requiring an employee's full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute his or her job. Fann Contracting is a drug free workplace.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Prefer candidates with High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Candidate must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to and from work sites throughout Arizona.
  • A clean MVR report (Motor Vehicle Record) will be required so please no DUI or other major issues associated with your driving record.
  • Must be able to perform heavy repair and labor duties, work required overtime and have a flexible work schedule.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the construction/mining industry.
  • Must have strong abilities/general knowledge of welding, cutting torch and fabricating.
  • Must have strong knowledge of M.S.H.A. mining safety.
  • Certificates & training in Parts 46/48 would be a plus but we will train the right candidate.
  • Reliability and Punctuality is required.
  • Must be a team player who is willing and able to learn AND teach.

Specific job requirements and details:
  • SAFELY operates the mobile rock crushing plant.
  • Actively participates in training and trains newer staff /employees.
  • Complies with all daily MSHA Safety Regulations, Health, Environmental and other company policies, procedures and requirements to assure material quality.
  • Observes gauges, dials, and operation of machinery and conveyor/stacker belts to assure smooth operation and conformity to material specifications.
  • While on shift, the Crusher Operator will be aware of all crusher personnel (at all times) for worker and plant safety.
  • Will be instrumental in disassembly of the plant, moving to new locations and resetting.
  • Should have basic knowledge of electrical generators, power cable connections, crusher components etc.
  • Assists the aggregates managers with record keeping and daily production schedules/submits reports on production and maintenance.
  • Perform continual MSHA records and housekeeping tasks.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and work for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Position requires working outdoors and often exposed to varying and/or extreme weather conditions (i.e., heat, wet, cold, etc.).
  • Must also skillfully operate loaders, excavators, skid steers, haul trucks and dozers.
  • Working knowledge of crushing equipment such as screens, crushers and conveyor systems and be very practiced in LOTO procedures.
  • Must be observant and alert to the movement and conditions of equipment within assigned responsibility area.
  • Make daily notes of worn parts, locate replacement parts and create proactive repair schedules.
  • Be mechanically inclined and have ability to troubleshoot / diagnose problems in relation to plant operations.
  • Performs daily housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe working station.
  • Must understand ADEQ dust control protocols and effective dust abatement techniques.
  • Must have basic computer skills, be able to write quality emails and perform other tasks in Excel/Word.
