Position Summary

The Crusher Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring crushing equipment to produce quality aggregate materials while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Safely operate crushing machinery and related equipment.
  • Monitor crusher operations to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production.
  • Inspect and monitor aggregate stockpiles to maintain product quality and proper material blends.
  • Prepare oversized material using a pulverizer or hydraulic hammer as needed.
  • Perform daily inspections of conveyors, belts, screen decks, crusher components, and other plant equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine preventive maintenance on crushing equipment.
  • Promptly report equipment malfunctions, wear parts, or maintenance needs to the Plant Manager.
  • Remove material buildup from under and around crushers, conveyors, and belt lines.
  • Inspect, clean, and record belt scale readings daily.
  • Identify and remove uncrushable materials to protect plant equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area through routine housekeeping, including shoveling around belts, conveyors, and equipment.
  • Safely operate equipment in accordance with company policies and all applicable safety regulations.
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with other plant operations and perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous crusher, aggregate, quarry, heavy equipment, or industrial plant experience required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and crushing machinery.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as business demands.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, crawl, and reach.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms safely.
  • Perform repetitive manual labor, including shoveling around equipment and conveyors.
  • Work in confined spaces and around moving mechanical equipment while following all safety procedures.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and dust.
Work Environment

This position is performed primarily outdoors and in an aggregate production environment with regular exposure to:

  • Dust, dirt, and airborne particles
  • Loud machinery and equipment
  • Moving conveyors and heavy equipment
  • Vibration from operating equipment
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Uneven terrain and slippery surfaces
