Overview
Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Systems Administrator position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.
The ideal candidate will perform enterprise system administration, operations, and maintenance across classified and unclassified environments. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, security, integrity, and performance of client/server systems, operating systems, network-connected devices, and supporting infrastructure in compliance with DoD, DCSA, and Intelligence Community security requirements.
The Systems Administrator provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, participates in RMF lifecycle activities, implements STIGs and security controls, and works closely with cybersecurity teams to maintain system authorization and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator will:
  • Perform system administration functions including User and administrator account creation and management, Privilege assignment and access control, System performance tuning, Installation of system-wide software
  • Administer desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks
  • Manage account monitoring, OS installation, security configuration, and system maintenance
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for Client/server systems, Storage and network devices, Mobile devices and peripherals
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 incident identification, diagnosis, and resolution
  • Escalate issues and communicate system status to agency management and internal customers
  • Support dispatch systems and remain engaged through issue resolution
  • Configure, manage, and secure UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Install and maintain operating systems and application software
  • Isolate and resolve hardware, software, OS, and network-related issues
  • Troubleshoot and configure network components to improve system reliability and performance
  • Integrate new technologies into existing systems, including system migrations and transitions
  • Maintain Microsoft 365 (Cloud), Exchange email, and SharePoint services
  • Troubleshoot Active Directory, Windows OS, MS Office Suite, Adobe, and related applications
  • Perform desktop hardware and software installations
  • Configure systems to meet DCSA security standards using STIGs and Group Policies
  • Support the RMF lifecycle, including assessment and validation of security controls
  • Conduct STIG compliance reviews using SCC and manual checks
  • Create and track POA&Ms, mitigations, and exceptions
  • Perform patch management, vulnerability remediation, antivirus updates, and log auditing
  • Assist in all phases of the security authorization (ATO) process
  • Advise the ISSM on system security posture and risks
  • Develop and update security documentation and system policies
  • Conduct self-inspections and assess impacts of system modifications
  • Support backup and recovery operations using COTS backup solutions
  • Provide system and software training to end users
  • Evaluate technical requirements and recommend hardware and software acquisitions
  • Serve as a technical lead or task lead on special projects as required

Requirements
Skills and Experience
The Systems Administrator must have:
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
  • 5+ years of experience performing systems administration in Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) environments
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Windows operating system security requirements, UNIX/Linux system administration, and Active Directory and Group Policy administration
  • Experience supporting Client/server architectures, Network-connected devices and peripherals, and Enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) (DoDI 8510.01), DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), DCSA security standards, and Patch management, vulnerability remediation, and Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) tracking
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Exchange, and SharePoint environments
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions, anti-virus platforms, and endpoint protection tools
  • Experience supporting classified IT environments
  • Willingness to support after-hours or on-call operations as required

Education and Certifications
The Systems Administrator must meet the following:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Must meet DoD 8140 education and certification requirements

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
