Job description

Role Summary:
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day production at a Millwork Plant, as well as overseeing all shipping and receiving functions. Coaches, motivates and supports the production crew and the Millwork dock team, applying a team approach and maintaining open communication with the staff.
Scope of the Position:
This position is responsible for the production and dock team at the Huntsville, AL Millwork Plant. Direct reports include approximately 15 - 25 production and dock employees.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities expected of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Coach the production team to produce and prioritize jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadlines and updates
  • Ensure that all produced products are loaded and shipped onto enclosed trailers in a safe and timely manner
  • Oversee all inbound receiving functions for the location
  • Comply with all OSHA safety requirements
  • Communicate effectively with the management staff, the production team and the dock team, informing and updating them regularly to ensure that production objectives are met
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed
  • Organize workflow according to workload to ensure the completion of the production and shipping schedule
  • Oversee all staff scheduling, time off requests
  • Monitor quality and accuracy of all orders
  • Ensure the completion of all duties with minimum waste and abuse of equipment
  • Ensure employee safety training is conducted as required
  • Provide a positive, motivating example for employees
  • Conduct training or authorize training of production and dock employees
  • Conduct formal performance reviews per the company's policy. Initiate disciplinary action according to company policy.
  • Take all necessary action to manage production cost and improve profit
  • Inform Manager of equipment, production, shipping, and receiving concerns
  • Monitor ongoing operational issues and provide clear communications and resolutions
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
