Job description

Who We Are and Why Join Us
At OnMed our purpose is simple but powerful...to improve the quality of life and sense of well-being in our communities by bringing access to healthcare to everyone, everywhere. Our path to everywhere has already begun, with our innovative CareStation, a small but mighty, Clinic-in-a-Box, bringing #healthcareaccess anywhere with an outlet to plug it in. Poised to become a key component in America's public health infrastructure, the OnMed CareStation is the only tech-enabled, AI-powered, human-delivered, hybrid care solution that combines the comprehensive experience, trust and outcomes of a clinic, with the rapid scalability of virtual care.
At OnMed, every role, everyday, is directly impacting the communities we serve. You'll join a high-performing purpose-driven team, innovating to break down the barriers that keep people from the care they need.
This is not just a job...it's a movement to bring access to healthcare where and when people need it most. It's healthcare that shows up.
Who You Are
You've built or managed AI agents in a live production environment, not a pilot. You know how to find the repetitive, manual work hiding inside a team's day-to-day and turn it into a tested, reliable workflow - writing the prompts, running the pilots, and training the people who'll use it, without introducing security risk. You understand enterprise operations broadly, even where you're not the subject-matter expert. You think in systems: a two-tier agent architecture is the obvious answer to you, not a complex one. You continuously find unnecessary complexity, and you proactively look for a simple solution. You can explain what an agent is doing, and why, to someone who has never touched a prompt.
The Role
OnMed runs on people, process, tech, and agents. Half of our business operations will run on AI agents. This role owns that half and builds the next: a two-tier agent fleet that executes and supervises business operations, with no finish line. The fleet grows every quarter. So does this job.
Tier 1 - Execution Agents
Build and maintain the AI agents that automate OnMed's business operations functions: finance, growth, legal, people ops, and beyond. Each agent replaces a repeatable, well-defined workflow, measured on output quality, not activity.
Tier 2 - Supervisory Agents & Reporting
Design and deploy a supervisory layer that monitors Tier 1 output, catches drift and errors before they reach a person or a client, and escalates what it can't resolve. This tier is OnMed's control tower. It also produces the record: clean reports and an intuitive dashboard showing, at a glance, whether the fleet is in control, operating as expected, and driving the optimization we've committed to. If it isn't on the dashboard, it isn't being managed.
Tech You'll Work With
Agent orchestration frameworks, LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar), vector databases, and observability/eval tooling for monitoring agent performance in production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build: Design, deploy, and integrate business operations agents across OnMed's functional areas, with the leaders who own each process.
  • Manage: Own uptime, accuracy, and performance across the full fleet. Set the standard for "correct" in each function and hold every agent to it.
  • Evangelize: Make the case, inside OnMed and out, for what agent-driven operations make possible. Bring functional leaders into the build, not around them and teach and upskill non-technical staff on the new tools and workflows you create.
  • Optimize: Treat every agent as a draft. Refine prompts, workflows, and escalation rules weekly, based on the supervisory tier surfaces.
  • Simplify: Simplify the process before you automate it. Never automate complexity that shouldn't exist.
  • Reduce cost: Track and report cost-per-function before and after automation. Cost reduction is a stated outcome, not a side effect.
  • Report: Own the dashboard and reporting layer that makes fleet performance visible to leadership on a regular cadence, not on request.
  • Partner: Work with Engineering to ensure infrastructure is ready, and partner with the team on knowledge management and optimization opportunities.

Reporting Structure
This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief Technology Officer, and works cross-functionally with every OnMed function running an automated process. The AI Operations Lead owns the review of the supervisory reports and dashboard end to end, including ongoing reviews with the COO and the CEO.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Hands-on experience designing and building AI agents in a live production environment - not just configuring or maintaining existing tools.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise operations across finance, legal, people ops, and growth.
  • Systems thinking, applied to multi-tier automation and escalation design.
  • Ability to translate technical agent behavior into plain language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to teach and upskill non-technical staff on new AI tools and workflows, translating technical capability into practical, everyday use.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (business, computer science, engineering, or operations).
  • 5+ years in business operations, technical operations, or a builder-type role, including direct, hands-on experience designing, deploying, or managing AI agents/automation in a live production environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally across at least two business functions: finance, legal, people ops, or growth - enough to understand how those functions operate, even without deep domain expertise.
  • Track record owning a system or process end-to-end, including uptime, accuracy and/or performance metrics - not just recommending changes but being accountable for outcomes.

Benefits
OnMed provides a competitive salary and benefits package, including unlimited PTO and paid holidays.
The base salary for this role is up to $170,000 commensurate with the candidate's experience; plus discretionary annual bonus.
OnMed is a proud equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information, disability, age, marital status, veteran status, or any other category protected by law.
