Sr. Linux Middleware Manager
Location: Wayne, Pennsylvania (Hybrid)
Role Overview

This role is responsible for the strategy, modernization, and stability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), IBM MQ, and related middleware technologies. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader first, capable of stabilizing team culture and driving performance, and second, a platform owner who can define the roadmap and improve architecture in a complex, enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, hire, and develop a team of senior technical engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Own the stability, modernization, and resiliency of the mission-critical hybrid platform, including RHEL, IBM MQ, and associated web and application servers.
  • Drive the architectural redesign of the IBM MQ platform to improve resiliency and reduce the blast radius of failures.
  • Develop and execute the platform roadmap with a focus on improving automation, change management, patch velocity, and deployment reliability.
  • Increase platform reliability and disaster recovery capabilities, including data center failover, regional failover, and multi-region cloud resilience.
  • Serve as a cross-functional leader, operating in a matrixed environment to influence peers and stakeholders and ensure visibility across the organization.
  • Engage with internal clients and stakeholders, acting as an advisor on platform usage and capabilities.
  • Ensure all platform architecture and patterns support high availability, fault isolation, observability, and automation.
Required Qualifications
Education: An undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of related work experience is required, with a strong background in infrastructure or platform leadership. Must have experience managing senior technical engineers and leading teams through change. Experience delivering services that support IT development organizations is also required.
Technical Skills: A deep understanding of Linux environments and enterprise systems is mandatory. Candidates should have a strong general IT background across Linux, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), and virtualization (Nutanix, VMware, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IBM MQ or other enterprise messaging platforms.
  • Experience with financial systems or high-availability platforms.
  • Previous work in a large enterprise, regulated industry with exposure to controls, compliance, and audits.
  • A graduate degree in a related field.
Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid model, requiring on-site presence three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). The role is primarily transformation-focused, not a maintenance position, and is central to driving organizational redesign and scaling the leadership layer.
