Job description

Job Summary:
Empower AI is focused on providing AI solutions for government agencies, particularly in the areas of Health, Defense, and Civilian missions. They are seeking a Mid Level Project Engineer to support critical Army missions at Fort Huachuca, assisting with cybersecurity operations and IT support, while gaining hands-on experience in a mission-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Support project leadership and independently lead portions of missionโ€‘critical projects, coordinating technical and functional resources, while supporting Senior personnel in overall project and program execution
โ€ข Project management support for AI/MLโ€‘enabled and IT modernization initiatives, including managing assigned workstreams, tracking schedules and dependencies, and coordinating deliverables across data, platform, and infrastructure teams under the direction of a Senior Project Manager
โ€ข Assist with cybersecurity, operations, engineering, and field services supporting Army missions at Fort Huachuca
โ€ข Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity compliance activities, including documentation development, artifact maintenance, continuous monitoring support, and security control validation under supervision
โ€ข Provide Tier I and Tier II operational support, including incident response, service request fulfillment, troubleshooting, and routine system maintenance in accordance with established SLAs and procedures
โ€ข Assist with STIG compliance, vulnerability scanning (e.g., ACAS), patching, and system hardening, escalating issues as appropriate and tracking remediation status
โ€ข Participate in change, configuration, and release management (CCRM) activities, including documentation updates, testing support, and coordination of approved changes
โ€ข Support operational engineering and sustainment tasks, including system baseline updates, testing in controlled environments, and lifecycle support activities
โ€ข Assist with technical documentation and reporting, including SOPs, system diagrams, build guides, afterโ€‘action reports (AARs), and knowledge base updates using Governmentโ€‘provided templates and repositories
โ€ข Support onโ€‘site and remote field services, including system installations, Move/Add/Change activities, inventory updates, and coordination with senior staff and government stakeholders
โ€ข Utilize Government ticketing systems, dashboards, and collaboration tools to track work, update status, and support operational reporting requirements
โ€ข Complete required DoD cybersecurity, IA, IT service management, and security training, and apply ITILโ€‘based best practices for incident, problem, and change management
โ€ข Work as part of a crossโ€‘functional team, learning from senior engineers and cybersecurity professionals while developing skills to support future growth into intermediate and senior roles
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)
โ€ข Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field (Relevant military training or experience may substitute)
โ€ข 8-12 years experience in IT, cyber, networking, systems administration, or field services
โ€ข Willingness to learn and grow in a DoD operational environment
โ€ข Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:
โ€ข Prior military service or internship experience at Fort Huachuca
โ€ข Entry-level DoD 8570 certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, CE certifications)
