Summary

The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing critical financial information in the consolidated and entity-level financial statements. This information is delivered in the form of journal entries, monthly closing activities, account reconciliations, and accounting analysis for SYGMA in accordance with GAAP, SYSCO and SYGMA policies. In addition, the Financial Analyst acts as a guardian for one of our Distribution Sites as well as a group of our Concepts. Periods of overtime may be required during month-end closing activity and key projects.

Essential Functions

  • Perform weekly/monthly gross margin analysis for assigned Concepts and resolve significant discrepancies or variances.
  • Perform the weekly forecast of assigned site. Work with the VPGM and staff to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform financial statement review, analysis, and variance explanations during close process.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly journal entries.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with VPGM and their staff of assigned center.
  • Work with GM's to ensure accurate accruals and GL account allocations throughout the month and perform monthly accrual analysis.
  • Perform timely completion and analysis of assigned monthly account reconciliations.
  • Produce and distribute weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
  • Provide coverage when the other FP&A Analysts are out.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.

Experience:

  • 2 years' experience in finance, accounting, or related field in a large organization required
  • 1 year SYGMA/Sysco experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have solid accounting skills and a working knowledge of GAAP
  • CPA and Food Service Industry background a plus

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill with PC and ERP systems (Infinium/AS400 Query helpful) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Proven ability to produce timely and accurate results
  • Strong technical and organizational skills
  • Must be able to deal with high pressure situations and deadlines
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Some travel may be required but limited
