Job description

Job Title: Microbiology Lab TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Microbiology Lab Technician to perform microbiological testing on cosmetic products in accordance with USP , USP , USP Suitability, and USP standards. The role is critical to ensuring product safety and compliance with regulatory standards. The technician will be the sole lab operator under the supervision of the Lab Manager and must be proficient in microbiological techniques and regulatory protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Perform microbiological testing on cosmetic products in accordance with USP standards.
  • Conduct method suitability testing to validate sterility procedures and eliminate antimicrobial interference.
  • Prepare and analyze samples for microbial enumeration and identification of objectionable organisms.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment to ensure sterility and accuracy.
  • Document all procedures, results, and deviations in compliance with ISO standards.
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for microbiological testing workflows.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and laboratory best practices.
  • Communicate findings and updates to the Lab Manager and relevant stakeholders.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in microbiological techniques and regulatory protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a microbiology lab, preferably in cosmetics or pharmaceutical testing.
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP/GCP standards.

Work Environment

The position is within a small bench lab dedicated to third-party cosmetics testing. The technician will be the only lab operator, reporting directly to the laboratory manager. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with an 8-hour shift between 6 AM and 6 PM. Some weekends may be required for research studies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
