  • Direct proficiency testing, complete LIS tracers/audits, and maintain ISO document compliance.

  • Review and revise laboratory procedure manuals, CPT codes, and Chargemaster listings annually.

  • Lead preparations and readiness for JCAHO/CAP inspections, ISO audits, and regulatory site visits.

  • Perform initial training check-offs for new employees and students.

  • Execute annual competency/proficiency evaluations and performance goal reviews for staff.

  • Represent the department on the Hospital Infection Control, Antibiotic Stewardship, and Pathology QI committees.
  • Perform clinical diagnostic testing on bench rotations and troubleshoot complex test or instrument issues.

  • Conduct daily master log reviews, monitor quality control (QC), and implement corrective actions.

  • Research, evaluate, and implement new testing methodologies, instrumentation, and alternate equipment.

  • Maintain up-to-date standing supply orders, reference test lists, and vendor contracts.

Requirements

  • Job requires knowledge, skill, and ability to provide testing care for a neo-natal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population.
  • Computer skills are necessary.
  • Must possess visual acuity to distinguish fine graduations of color and to closely examine specimens micro and macroscopically and possess manual dexterity sufficient to work with small instruments and delicate equipment.
  • Must be registered or registry eligible as MLS (Medical Laboratory Science)
  • Must have some analytical ability to resolve technical problems, relate test results to normal health state, and to the presence of diseases or other conditions, which may alter test results. Interprets quality control data.
  • LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
