What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Micro Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Micro Intern, you need foundational knowledge in your chosen field, strong organizational abilities, and a willingness to learn, often supported by current enrollment in a relevant academic program. Familiarity with productivity tools like Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and, depending on the industry, basic knowledge of specialized software (e.g., CRM, data analysis tools) is beneficial. Strong communication, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving are essential soft skills that help you stand out. These skills and qualities are important because micro internships are short-term and fast-paced, requiring interns to quickly contribute value and adapt to new environments.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on as a Micro Intern?

As a Micro Intern, you will typically be assigned short-term, project-based tasks that allow you to gain hands-on experience in a specific field. These can range from conducting market research, assisting with social media campaigns, analyzing data, or preparing reports, depending on the company's needs. The projects are designed to be completed within a few weeks and often provide opportunities to collaborate with full-time team members, giving you valuable exposure to the organization's workflow. This structure helps you build practical skills and industry connections in a condensed timeframe.

What are Micro Interns?

Micro Interns are students or early-career professionals who participate in short-term, project-based internships. These opportunities typically last from a few days to a few weeks and allow individuals to gain practical experience, build skills, and expand their professional network without committing to a full-length internship. Micro internships are often remote and help organizations complete specific tasks or projects while providing valuable learning experiences for participants.

What is the difference between Micro Intern vs Intern?

AspectMicro InternIntern
CredentialsTypically no formal credentials required; may have basic coursework or related skillsUsually students or recent graduates; may require enrollment in a program
Work EnvironmentShort-term, project-based, often remote or flexibleLonger-term, structured, often in-office or hybrid
Employer & Industry UsageStartups, tech companies, and organizations offering quick, focused projectsUniversities, corporations, and organizations offering educational or training experiences

The main difference between a Micro Intern and an Intern lies in duration, scope, and structure. Micro Interns typically engage in short-term, project-specific work with minimal formal requirements, while Interns usually participate in longer-term, structured programs aimed at gaining broader experience. Both roles serve as entry points but differ in commitment and setup.

Job description

Social Media Intern

Adept Talent | Lucid Staffing powered by Adept | AdeptID

Location: Boston, MA
Reports to: Sr Manager, Marketing
Compensation: $20 per hour

Company Background

AdeptID is a Boston-based company that uses AI to get people into jobs - both through its talent matching software and through the healthcare staffing companies it owns and empowers.

We're a new kind of AI company that combines software with traditional services to solve big problems - in this case, talent shortages in the healthcare industry.

The Role

We're looking for a summer social media intern who genuinely loves being online. Not just scrolling, but engaging, connecting, and building community. Reporting to the Sr. Marketing Manager, you'll own social for three brands spanning healthcare staffing and API technology, and be the human voice behind all of them.

Who we're looking for: A tech-savvy, social-first rising college junior or senior studying communications, marketing or business, an MBA candidate, or a marketing/communications graduate student available 40 hours a week June 1 - August 28, 2026. Flexible start date.

What You'll Do
  • Manage and execute social media content calendars from ideation to content creation to execution across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook for three brands (Adept Talent, Lucid Staffing Solutions, and AdeptID)
  • Show up consistently in the comments, DMs, and conversations that make our communities feel seen and heard
  • Explore and pitch new platform opportunities like Reddit, Pinterest, and Bluesky
  • Create content that speaks to healthcare professionals and human resources vendors in an authentic, human way
  • Utilize AI as a coworker and content collaborator to develop and manage content ideation and creation while maintaining authenticity
  • Develop and launch a micro-influencer campaign and branded giveaways
  • Lead with video-first content that feels real
  • Stay on top of algorithm changes and emerging trends (especially trending healthcare topics and memes) before they peak
  • Report biweekly analytics and connect social engagement back to our KPIs

As you grow into the role, there may be opportunities to expand into other areas of marketing depending on your interests and strengths.

What you bring
  • A genuine passion for community building and social media (you actually like talking to people online)
  • Basic graphic design and video stitching skills. Comfort with tools like Canva, Figma, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator.
  • A strong eye for brand consistency with the confidence to push its boundaries creatively
  • Basic AI skills & a curiosity about how AI fits into marketing and content creation
  • An understanding that authentic representation matters, especially for people-first brands
  • You're always learning. Trends move fast and so do you.

How our internships work
  • At the beginning of your internship with us, we'll create professional goals together focused on helping you grow in your career.
  • Upskill in AI marketing. Learn how to use AI to automate workflows and build content faster
  • Spend 3 days/week onsite in our downtown Boston office

Sound like you? Please apply today - we can't wait to meet you!
