Role Purpose 

As a commercial contractor, Thomas Construction Group is responsible for taking a client’s vision and making it a stunning, structurally sound reality. This takes experience, problem-solving and leadership, but only through our dedicated team can we ensure project success. We’re looking for individuals who share our work ethic and company ethos to learn and grow in our PAID internship program on the North Carolina coast. 

Our summer 2026 internship opportunities are in the following areas of specialization: 

  • Project Management Track
  • Superintendent Track
  • Estimating Track
  • Marketing
  • HR
  • Accounting

Key Responsibilities 

  • The Project Manager Intern will work on an assigned job in various stages of construction. In the past, interns have been responsible for assisting with anything from job progress reports to organizing monthly meetings to general site labor. The main goal for this internship is learning the daily responsibilities of a Project Manager and understanding how this role affects the outcome of a project.
  • The Superintendent Intern will work on an assigned job in various stages of construction. In the past, interns have been responsible for assisting with anything from with trailer set-up to monitoring subcontractor work to general site labor. The main goal for this internship role is to learn the daily responsibilities of a Superintendent and understand how this role affects the outcome of a project.
  • The Estimating Intern will be responsible for learning the TCG estimation system, understanding the bid administration process, following up with subcontractors regarding proposals and other assignments as the Estimating team sees fit. The main goal for this internship is to learn the ins and outs of Estimating and its systems and understand the important role it plays in the construction process.
  • The Marketing Intern will assist with social media, company events, marketing materials, and other department initiatives while learning how Marketing supports TCG’s brand and growth.
  • The Human Resources Intern will assist with recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, and other HR initiatives while learning how HR supports TCG’s employees and culture.
  • The Accounting Intern will assist with invoices, financial documentation, reporting, and other accounting tasks while learning the basics of construction accounting.


Qualifications  

  • Intern candidates are current junior/senior year students pursuing their undergraduate degree, preferably in Building Science, Construction Management, or a major aligned with internship roles. Experience working on multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment is essential. A sense of urgency partnered with attention to detail is a must!
