Job description

Overview
Personal Trainer Career Accelerator Program
Fitness Together - Lynnfield, MA
This is not a traditional internship.
The Personal Trainer Career Accelerator Program is a structured, mentorship driven experience designed for individuals preparing to pursue a professional career in personal training.
Interns are immersed in a private, one on one training environment, working alongside experienced coaches to develop real world skills in movement assessment, program design, client communication, and behavior based coaching. This is a hands on learning experience focused on how to coach clients effectively, not just how to write workouts.
Fitness Together specializes in working with adult clients in a private suite setting, emphasizing accountability, personalization, and long term progress.
Interns will gain exposure to real client scenarios and learn how to deliver a high level coaching experience in a professional, appointment based environment.
Interns pursuing certification will have access to a discounted NASM Certified Personal Trainer pathway as part of their professional development.
This program is best suited for candidates who are serious about building a career in fitness and are ready to move beyond theory into practical application.
Top performing interns may be considered for future employment opportunities upon completion.
Responsibilities
  • Shadow experienced trainers during personal training sessions
  • Assist with session flow, including warm-ups and basic coaching support
  • Learn and practice movement assessments under supervision
  • Participate in role-play scenarios to develop communication and client engagement skills
  • Complete structured weekly assignments related to program design, behavior change, and client retention
  • Contribute to a client case study and final capstone project
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in all client-facing interactions

Qualifications
  • Currently in the final 1-2 years of an Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related program or pursuing a career transition into fitness
  • Interest in pursuing a full-time career in personal training or coaching
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with adult clients in a professional setting
  • Prior experience in coaching, teaching, caregiving, athletics, or other people-focused roles preferred
  • Ability to commit approximately 10-20 hours per week for the duration of the program
  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and engage in a structured mentorship environment

Note:
Interns will be working with adult clients (often 40+) and are expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
Benefits
- Hands-on experience in a private, one-on-one personal training environment
- Direct mentorship from experienced personal trainers
- Structured curriculum covering movement assessment, program design, and behavior coaching
- Exposure to real client scenarios and coaching conversations
- Opportunity to complete a capstone project demonstrating coaching ability
- Access to a significantly discounted National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) program for interns pursuing certification
- Letter of recommendation for qualified interns
- Consideration for future employment opportunities within Fitness Together
