Youth Pastor - Korean Methodist Church
Position Overview
The Korean Methodist Church of Detroit (KMCD) is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to lead a growing ministry of approximately 130 middle and high school students. This role focuses on spiritual formation, discipleship, and leadership development within a Korean American church context.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship
Teach biblical truth and mentor students in their faith
Disciple and develop student leaders
Lead youth worship and foster spiritual growth
Program Leadership
Oversee youth ministry programs including:
Sunday worship and Bible study
Friday gatherings (worship & fellowship)
Retreats and leadership training (LIT)
Mission trips (local and global)
Develop curriculum and train volunteer leaders
Relational Ministry
Build strong relationships with students and families
Partner with parents in spiritual development
Collaborate with TroyHope Ministry (English-speaking congregation)
Administration & Vision
Develop and implement youth ministry vision and strategy
Manage budget and communications (newsletters, social media)
Participate in staff meetings and church leadership
Qualifications
A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a clear call to youth ministry
Strong biblical knowledge and alignment with Methodist theology
Ordained or willing to pursue ordination in the Global Methodist Church
Seminary training (M.Div. or equivalent) preferred
Experience in youth ministry or related field
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively with students, families, and volunteers
Fluent in English and proficient in Korean
Position Details
Full-time, salaried position
Requires church office hours but not limited to Sunday, Saturday and Friday ministry.
Reports to the Senior Pastor and the church SPRC
Employment Requirements
Background check and Safe Sanctuary clearance
Valid driver’s license
Salary commensurate with experience
