Sheet Metal Apprentice โ€“ Shop Fabrication

Blauch Brothers, Inc. is seeking a motivated Sheet Metal Apprentice to join our Sheet Metal Shop team. This position is primarily focused on in-shop fabrication and production of ductwork and sheet metal components that support our commercial HVAC construction projects.

This is a safety-sensitive position.

Position Overview

The Sheet Metal Apprentice works under the direction of experienced sheet metal mechanics and shop supervisors to assist in the fabrication, assembly, and preparation of sheet metal ductwork and HVAC components. This role focuses on developing skills in blueprint reading, operating fabrication machinery, assembling duct systems, and maintaining production quality standards.

Compensation begins at $18 per hour, with potential increases up to $25 per hour upon completion of milestones within the apprenticeship qualification program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all shop safety policies and procedures
  • Assist in fabrication of ductwork and fittings using shop equipment
  • Operate shears, brakes, rollers, punches, drills, and other fabrication tools
  • Cut, bend, form, and assemble sheet metal components to specification
  • Install duct connectors, seams, drives, clips, and fasteners
  • Trim, grind, deburr, and finish metal components
  • Measure and verify dimensions to ensure accuracy and quality control
  • Prepare duct sections for shipment to job sites
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Assist with inventory organization and material handling
  • Learn to read and interpret shop drawings and fabrication details
  • Participate in apprenticeship training and career development programs
Work Schedule

Four (4) 10-hour days. Overtime is possible depending on production needs.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic

Physical Requirements
