Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Operator to join our metal fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality metal parts according to specifications. This role requires attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines (fiber or CO2)
  • Load and unload raw materials (sheet metal, plate, etc.)
  • Read work orders, and identify material
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure precision cuts and optimal performance
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  • Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report major problems to maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience operating laser cutting machines in a fabrication environment preferred
  • Ability to read measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC controls
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to [insert weight, e.g., 40 lbs] and stand for extended periods
  • Knowledge of different metals (steel, aluminum, stainless) is a plus
