Position Summary
The Shear/Brake Operator is responsible for producing custom fabricated products in accordance with company specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role involves selecting and verifying materials, performing fabrication operations, and ensuring all products meet established quality and safety standards. The position requires accurate documentation, proper use of tools and machinery, and adherence to company procedures, work instructions, and inventory processes. The individual will collaborate with team members to support efficient production while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support and follow Balco, Inc.'s Quality Policy.
  • Follow all applicable Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Verify that the proper materials are provided to the customer.
  • Verify that materials are supplied in proper quantities and proper lengths.
  • Select materials and verify that proper alloys are used.
  • Check materials to ensure that quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Ensure that the materials are marked with the proper mark numbers, if the mark numbers are required.
  • Perform required operations to fabricate products as specified.
  • Issue material out of inventory in our ERP system.
  • Accurately document the inspection and rework of non-conforming or rejected material using the appropriate log.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations as directed by Balco.
  • Any other assignments, duties or responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor and Executive Management.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Safe and effective use of power tools and machinery including saws, drills, sanders, grinders, nail guns, paint guns, and any other applicable machinery.
  • Inspect and verify materials to meet standards/details and ensure they meet the needs of our customers.
  • Participate in all necessary training functions for your position.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lift 50 pounds properly to prevent injury to yourself and others without damaging material/product.
  • Standing for up to 10 hours daily while performing job requirements.
