Job description

  • Reviews requests for library materials submitted by library selectors, faculty, andstudents; assessesavailability; locates appropriate vendors; and communicates with requesters to problem-solve requests.
  • Places firm orders for material in all formats, creates order recordsin the Library Services Platform (LSP), monitors order fulfillment, andcommunicates with vendors as needed to resolve issues.
  • Interacts with a variety of vendors and vendor systems and continuallymonitors and responds to changes in vendors, vendor contracts, and vendorservices.
  • Receives and reconciles invoices in preparation for payment processing in accounting.
  • Participates in the workflows that maintain the Libraries' demand-driven, evidence-based, approval, and other acquisitionsprograms.
  • Catalogs materials in all formats and accurately assigns Library ofCongress classifications and subject headings.
  • Participates in technical services cleanup work, including reclassing,record remediation, and holdings problem-solving activities that support University of Arizona Libraries print initiatives in collaboration with the Discovery Unit.
  • Performs otherduties as assigned.

Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of library tools, systems, and resources relatedto acquisitions and cataloging functions in academic libraries.
  • Knowledge of applying appropriate metadata standards andclassification schema, especially MARC, Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), and Libraryof Congress Classification (LCC).
  • Ability to follow current best practices in librarytechnical services operations, procedures and policies.
  • Ability in using software for cataloging, word processing,spreadsheets, data management, and decision support.
  • Ability to interpret information and extract data fromcomputer databases using various search criteria.
  • Abilityto learn new processes, adapt to change, and continuously improve performance.
  • Abilityto demonstrate initiative, optimism, flexibility, and follow-through.
