The State and Local Tax merger and acquisitions practice (SALT M&A), is responsible for performing due diligence and transaction tax consulting to companies ranging from private equity to institutional investors/clients. The team advises clients on risks and solutions related to buying and selling transactions and provides deliverables in firm-provided formats.

RSM is looking for a dynamic State and Local Tax (SALT) Senior Manager, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions, to join our expanding Cross-Border M&A Tax Practice. As a part of SALT M&A team, you would advise multinational corporations, private equity firms, and privately held companies on the state and local tax aspects of planning, structuring, due diligence, and executing M&A transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on delivering due diligence, tax structuring services, and communicate findings and opportunities to clients
  • Manage the SALT component of due diligence and structuring projects by participating on client calls, interviewing targets and their tax advisors
  • Analysis of various SALT issues such as Nexus, Combined/Consolidated Reporting, Taxability and Exemptions for Sales Tax, Property Tax and Unclaimed Property
  • Identify and act as a liaison for prospective opportunities to provide additional services, such as net operating loss and distressed company tax analysis from a SALT perspective.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university
  • Requires a minimum of eight years of tax experience with a minimum of five (5) years of SALT experience within a public accounting firm, a corporate tax department, or a law firm
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years of SALT M&A experience within a public accounting firm, a corporate tax department, or a law firm
  • Requires one of the following: CPA or JD
  • Ability to handle multiple engagements
  • Exceptional quantification, research, and writing skills
  • Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.

  • Masters of Taxation, LLM of Tax

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $141,900 - $284,900

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
