What is a merchandise allocator?

A Merchandise Allocator is a retail professional responsible for distributing products to various store locations based on sales data, inventory levels, and demand forecasts. They work closely with buyers and planners to ensure the right products are in the right stores at the right time, maximizing sales and minimizing excess inventory. Merchandise Allocators analyze sales trends, monitor stock levels, and make recommendations for inventory transfers or reorders. Their role is crucial in helping retailers achieve optimal stock levels and meet customer demand efficiently.

How does a merchandise allocator typically interact with buyers and planners to ensure optimal stock levels across stores?

As a Merchandise Allocator, you'll work closely with both buyers and planners to analyze sales data and trends, ensuring that each store location receives the appropriate inventory based on demand and store-specific factors.
