Overview

The Sr. QA Automation Engineer plays a pivotal role in the implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of the SAP S/4Hana automation program. Reporting to the QA manager and providing technical direction to a team of 4-6 Senior QA Automation Engineers, this role involves not only monitoring and evaluating testing outcomes but also driving the development of innovative testing strategies and plans, setting the vision, established standards, resolving technical blockers, and leading a cohesive, high-performing automation team.  The Sr. QA Automation Engineer serves as the primary quality authority for complex, multi-module SAP programs, collaborating closely with business analysts, functional subject matter experts, architects and development teams, to define strategy, enforce standards, implementing cutting-edge testing technologies, such as AI, and delivering measurable improvements in release quality at scale. The core mandate of this role is to establish and continuously mature a rigorous, scalable Tosca automation foundation across the SAP S/4Hana landscape. This is a Sr. QA position for practitioners who combine Tosca and SAP technical expertise with leadership presence required to drive alignment and build a solid automation foundation.  

Primary Responsibilities
  • Leads end-to-end implementation of the automation program: define the framework, architecture, establish module-level test design standards and governs the maintenance cadence for all automation assets.
  • Drive the establishment of automation foundation from initial implementation through steady-state operation - including test case library structure, reusable component design, execution scheduling, and integration coordination.
  • Establish and enforce Tosca automation framework standards, mentoring peers on, coding conventions, and object reuse patterns that ensure automation assets are maintainable, scalable and transferable across team members
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and escalation point for Tosca technical issues, integration failures, and framework design decisions, maintain deep familiarity with Tosca platform updates and roadmap capabilities.   
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance and evolution of all Tosca automation scripts and framework components; define the governance process for script updates triggered by SAP changes, systems upgrades, or scope expansion.
  • Conduct regular technical reviews of automation scripts and framework contributions produced by senior engineers, provide actionable feedback that raises quality bar and accelerates skill development.
  • Ensure reusability and scalability of Tosca test scripts across SAP modules, reducing duplication and maximizing automation coverage.
Additional Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, architects, and product owners to develop holistic, program-wide testing strategies; champion quality and automation investment as strategic organizational priorities.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and scenarios tailored to SAP modules and enterprise integration points; identify automation opportunities and define the overarching strategy for automated coverage across functional, integration, and regression testing.
  • Track and report quality assurance metrics - including defect counts, test results, test coverage, and test status - providing data-driven insight to support executive and delivery decision-making.
  • Perform impact analysis on changes to existing architecture, work processes, and systems.
  • Lead quality assurance strategy and automation execution for complex SAP S/4HANA implementations, upgrades, and cross-module integration programs spanning OTC, FTD, R2R, COM, Master data, and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Typically, 3+ years of progressive experience in quality assurance testing and solution design, development 
  • 3+ years of automation experience with Tricentis Tosca in SAP landscape
  • Proven experience leading an automation implementation in SAP environment and providing technical direction to QA engineers.
  • Native-level proficiency/fluent in English.
  • Experience in DevOps and Agile technology environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert proficiency with Tricentis Tosca Commander, Data Integrity and Live Compare tools.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP processes across OTC, FTD, R2R, COM domains
  • Experience in leading and mentoring QA engineers.
  • SAP upgrade experience (ECC to S/4HANA) strongly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of coding practices and design patterns for building maintainable automation frameworks.
  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Familiar with machine learning or AI/ML-assisted testing approaches.
  • Demonstrated skills in performance and non-functional testing to understand how systems perform under specific conditions.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse roles throughout the organization to develop holistic testing strategies and select appropriate testing frameworks.
  • Strong ability to creatively troubleshoot problems and work with cross-functional teams.
