Overview

The Staff QA/Test Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring that solutions function correctly and are error-free by overseeing the verification and validation of product requirements and implementing advanced quality assurance processes. This role involves not only monitoring and evaluating testing outcomes but also driving the development of innovative testing strategies and plans. Collaborating closely with development teams, the Staff QA/Test Engineer oversees comprehensive tests, including regression, functional, and performance tests for both new and existing functionalities. Reviewing complex test results to recommend corrective actions is crucial, as is researching and implementing cutting-edge testing technologies, such as machine learning. Additionally, the Staff QA/Test Engineer leads and trains team members, supports architects in developing robust automation strategies, and generates scripts for automated testing. This role also involves leading the development, build, and support of complex systems that may have system-wide impact and managing this work across multiple teams to ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality products.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead testing strategy and architecture, automation framework and tools to aid testing, operations, and maintenance of the data warehouse.
  • Write and execute test plans, design and develop test tools, debug and report code bugs, and push quality upstream.
  • Measure performance of various components (using simulated stress tests) and report any outliers/exceptions.
  • Work with Business Analysts to interpret testing needs as requirements are being developed.
  • Evaluate testability of business and technical requirements based on business/functional requirement document(s), use cases, user stories, and/or solution design documents.
  • Manage requirement/design reviews or sprint/release planning sessions.
  • Help perform impact analysis on changes to existing architecture, work processes, and systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement reusable components.
  • Manage the set up and maintenance of test environments for both manual and automated testing.
  • Monitor test environments establishing thresholds and alerts.
  • Ensure availability of data for testing.
Additional Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide root cause analysis on defects and documented issues and decide the best solutions.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers at SGWS in implementing best practices.
  • Lead and oversee validation of SAP S/4HANA RecordtoReport (RTR/FICO) processes, ensuring endtoend financial process integrity and crossmodule integration consistency.
  • Validate financial processes including GL, AP, AR, Intercompany, Tax, Fixed Assets, and Financial Close, ensuring accuracy of postings, reconciliations, and reporting outputs.
  • Oversee and execute endtoend testing of financial flows including journal entries, invoicing, billing, intercompany transactions, and payment processing.
  • Lead integration testing across SAP and enterprise ecosystems, including Ariba, Concur, Biller Direct, Blackline, FINTECH, Motus, OpenText (VIM/ADA, xECM), TM1, Vertex, Vistex, AMEX, and banking platforms.
  • Validate integrations using EAPI, SAP CPI, Kafka, APIs, IDocs, and middleware, and ensure data consistency across SAP Datasphere, BW, and enterprise reporting platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects related to financial processing, integrations, and data inconsistencies; lead root cause analysis across crossfunctional teams.
  • Mentor QA engineers and guide teams on RTR process validation, financial data integrity, and cross-system testing best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Information Systems) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Typically, 5+ years of quality assurance testing, or other relevant roles work experience.
    • 5+ years of experience with SAP S/4 HANA in the area of RTR/FICO
  • Extensive experience using testing frameworks, tools, and test automation frameworks.
  • In-depth familiarity with software development, testing practices, and quality assurance processes.
  • Native-level proficiency/fluent in English.
  • Experience with software design and development, testing practices, and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience in DevOps and Agile technology environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Deep expertise in SAP RTR/FICO processes, including GL, AP, AR, Tax, Intercompany, and Financial Close.
  • Experience validating financial systems integrated with enterprise ecosystems such as Ariba, Concur, Blackline, FINTECH, OpenText, TM1, Vertex, Vistex, AMEX, and banking platforms.
  • Strong understanding of financial data reconciliation, accounting principles, and endtoend reporting flows.
  • Experience testing integration patterns including APIs, EAPI, SAP CPI, Kafka-based messaging, and IDoc processing.
  • Experience validating financial data pipelines and analytics integrations using SAP Datasphere and enterprise reporting platforms.
  • Knowledge of S/4HANA migration testing, including ECC to S/4 data conversion, reconciliation, and validation.
