As a medication technician (MT), your job is to prepare and administer the correct dosage of medication to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or another qualified caregiver. You may also monitor patients for adverse reactions, document all medication you give and perform various administrative tasks in the office. Medication technicians also watch for physical and emotional changes in patients, provide assistance for daily living, and use specialized medical equipment when necessary. Most medication technicians also provide CPR and other first aid treatment as appropriate. Medication technicians are not the same as certified nursing assistants (CNA), who are rarely qualified to provide medication to patients.

POSITION SUMMARYMedication Technicians (QMAs) are key members of the resident care team. In this role, you will administer medications and assist residents with activities of daily living while ensuring residents receive safe, respectful, and compassionate care.
This position plays an important role in enhancing the lives of older adults by supporting their health, comfort, and overall wellbeing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAdminister medications according to physician orders and established protocols.
Assist residents with activities of daily living including grooming, mobility, and dining support.
Monitor residents for changes in health status and report concerns to nursing leadership.
Document medication administration and resident care accurately.
Follow all medication management and safety procedures.
Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents.
Work collaboratively with caregivers, nurses, and leadership to support quality care.
Provide companionship and respectful interaction with residents.
QUALIFICATIONSCurrent Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) certification in Indiana required.
Current CPR certification required.
Previous experience as a medication technician, CNA, or caregiver preferred.
Experience in assisted living, memory care, or senior living is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and medication safety practices.
Compassionate attitude and genuine interest in working with seniors.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
