Job description

JOB TITLE: Medical Staff Services Manager
DEPARTMENT: Medical Staff Services
REPORTS TO: Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the administration and medico-legal aspects of the medical staff services department. This position oversees the daily operations of the medical staff office, leading credentialing, privileging, and compliance with healthcare regulations. They act as a vital liaison and resource between hospital administration, clinical leadership, senior management and the medical staff ensuring providers meet accreditation standards to guarantee patient safety, and to promote and enhance communications through a positive working relationship.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, or a related business field preferred.

3 to 5 years of Medical Staff Services experience.

EXPERIENCE
Three to five (3-5) years’ experience and knowledge of medical and medical provider credentialing, privileging and accreditation processes.

One to three (1-3) years of management experience preferred.

  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while coping with last-minute changes and difficult situations.
  • Must have well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a broad range of professionals and people of varying education and backgrounds.
  • Must have ability to adapt to changing schedules, deadlines and demands, while balancing a heavy workload.
  • Must have the ability to work independently.
  • Strong computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products knowledge including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be familiar with credentialing software.
  • Ability to learn new computer software applications.
  • Must have experience with office equipment.
  • Must have critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Accurate and systematical filing skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Exceptional phone etiquette.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
