POSITION SUMMARY
The primary role of the Medical Director (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) at the facility is to lead, guide, and supervise the local clinical programs and staff at all locations of facility. The facility has over 5000 employees and is located near Gary, Indiana approximately 25 miles from Chicago. This includes providing on-site immediate medical care, treatment of occupational medicine injuries and illnesses, injury and illness prevention, fitness for duty evaluations, performing OSHA required exams in addition to other regulated exams and tests as well as short- and long-term disability management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Delivers and manages clinical services directly at the facility to personnel including employee regulated exams such as OSHA surveillance exams, DOT-FMCSA exams, FRA exams, Coast Guard exams as well as MRO services for DOT and Non-DOT drug screens. Also health promotion, wellness, acute and minor illness care and emergency response.
• Supervise the Hearing Conservation Program, reviewing audiograms; provide employees with education on hearing protection and hearing loss prevention.
• Provide administrative leadership for the programs and services offered by the Facility Medical Department while working with Human Resources, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, staff managers, and Health Services at the corporate level on administrative issues at the facility.
• Serves as plant medical lead in diagnosing, treating and coordinating care for personal health issues and work related injuries.
• Coordinates with the Corporate Medical Director in the development, implementation, and coordination of Corporation policies and programs covering EAP, workers' compensation, health-productivity management and occupational medicine practices such as determination, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses, conduct medical surveillance and qualification exams, manage short and long term disability due to occupational and non-occupational injury or illness and performing pre-placement physicals, Return to work evaluations and other fitness for duty evaluations.

REQUIREMENTS
• Doctorate degree in medicine (M.D. / D.O.).
• Current licensed to practice medicine in Indiana or the ability to obtain unrestricted medical license through the Indiana State Board of Medicine.
• Formal residency training and/or experience in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine and healthcare management or board certified (or currently obtaining board certification) in a primary care specialty such as Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Master's degree in public health or a related field preferred.
• Certification by the American Board of Preventative Medicine in Occupational Medicine preferred.
• Certification by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC).
• Medical Examiner Certification by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for DOT/CDL exams.
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine, preventive medicine, and primary care medicine, integrated disability management, industrial toxicology, industrial hygiene, safety techniques and practices, and safety and health laws and regulations on both the Federal and State levels, as well as a general knowledge of equipment and operations in industrial manufacturing.
