About this Job Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. We are a 24-bed acute care critical access hospital serving the Florida Parishes region of Southeast Louisiana. We offer a wide range of services including general surgery and a 24-hour emergency department.

At Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, we are able to bring you a wide range of services close to home, provided by a network of board-certified physicians. This position performs sub-professional clinical and administrative support functions at Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center in the Nursing Services Department. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in administrative services in a healthcare setting; OR Two years of experience or training in patient care; OR An associate's degree or certificate in a medical assistant training program.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Measure temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, head circumference, height and weight; record in patient's medical record as allowed by institutional policy. Prepare patients for routine examinations, which include obtaining, assessing and recording vital signs.

Change dressings, monitor food intake and elimination, and assist with catheterization or other basic treatments under a registered nurse's direction. Maintain and update patient records, schedule appointments, arrange lab/hospital services, and assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Answer the telephone, greet patients, update and scan patient medical records, fill out transfer paperwork, handle correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services.

Train and instruct lower-level staff, attend required training, and ensure compliance with hospital standards and safety equirements. Perform PAR level inventory and maintain stock. Attend Educational In-Services, Mandatory Training and Annual Review as required by hospital policy and deemed necessary by supervisor.

Any and all other related duties as assigned to include ensuring departmental coverage. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. Work Location: This Medical Assistant position is located in the Nursing Services Department.

Work Hours: Shift will be determined by Manager/ Supervisor. The incumbent shall possess and maintain a valid BLS certification. Attend and pass an ECG course annually.
