We are looking for a Medical Records Clerk!
Locations with Position Openings: In office, Athens, GA
Position Status Options: Full Time
Pay: $17.00 to $20.00
Position Summary: We are looking for a motivated, energetic candidate for our medical records team in Athens, GA who can deliver a "best in class" patient engagement experience. Responsible for processing centralized medical records requests for outside films, retention of patient medical data, and ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies and HIPAA guidelines. This will be achieved by performing the following duties.
Medical Records Clerk Duties:
  • Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
  • Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
  • Transcribe medical reports, process patient records, and process completion documents.
  • Resolve or clarify codes or diagnoses with conflicting, missing, or unclear information by consulting with referring physicians or others.
  • Enter data, such as demographic characteristics, history and extent of illness, and diagnostic procedures into the computer.
  • Identify, compile, abstract, and code patient data, using standard classification systems.
  • Retrieve and upload patient medical records/outside images from physicians, technicians, or other medical personnel delivered to the site by mail or in person. Release information to persons or agencies in accordance with regulations.
  • Distributing, sorting, and retrieving incoming and outgoing mail to process for all departments
  • Destroying/disposing of uploaded images after the holding period or mailing back to the Patient
  • Deliver and or interoffice mail uploaded images (CD's) to patients at the sites
  • Print and add postage to outgoing mail from all sites for various departments
  • Digitize outside films at the main site
  • Process and release backup Legal requests
  • Plan, develop, maintain, or operate a variety of health record indexes or storage and retrieval systems to collect, classify, store, or analyze information.
  • Prepare statistical reports, narrative reports, or graphic presentations of information to be used by referring physicians, executive leadership, researchers, or other users.
  • Compile medical care and census data for statistical reports on diseases treated, surgery performed, or use of hospital beds.
  • Process and prepare business or government forms.
  • Practice hands-on engagement in fully understanding lean principles, and applying it to daily operations
  • Maintain an unrelenting focus on improving and providing customer value through improved efficiencies, waste elimination, and focusing on key processes to continually improve
  • Process media requests for patient medical records via phone, fax, email, and process requests for external studies indicated in RIS/PACS.
  • Effectively verify pathology results to ensure the ordering physician receives the final radiology report reflecting the results of the pathology.
  • Process legal requests, medical record/billing, and images via system requests and or by phone

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: One year of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
