Job Summary:
Allen Media Group is a company that operates a free, ad-supported streaming service called Local Now. They are seeking a Data Center Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations and reliability of their Atlanta data center, ensuring that their streaming services run smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Own day-to-day operations of the Atlanta data center, including capacity, power, cooling, physical security, and vendor coordination.
• Lead hardware lifecycle management: procurement, deployment, decommissioning, and refresh planning aligned to growth and roadmap needs.
• Define and run incident response and escalation procedures for site-level events; partner with on-call engineering when issues span infra and software.
• Manage relationships with colocation, hardware, and connectivity vendors; negotiate and track service-level agreements.
• Build and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational dashboards so that the site is observable and operable by more than one person.
• Partner with Dev Ops and platform engineering to align infrastructure capacity with software architecture decisions.
• Establish and maintain compliance posture(physical security, environmental, audit readiness)appropriate to the data and services hosted.
• Hire and grow the on-site operations staff overtime as scope dictates.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5+ years of data center or large-scale infrastructure operations experience.
• Hands-on expertise across server hardware, networking, storage, power/cooling, and physical-security systems.
• Experience in a 24x7 video operations environment, including familiarity with video encoding hardware and software, multicast, packaging, origination, etc.
• Strong vendor management chops—colocation, hardware OEMs, ISPs, and managed-service providers.
• Demonstrated ability to translate engineering and product requirements into capacity and infrastructure plans.
• Experience defining incident response, change management, and operational run books in a 24/7 environment.
• Comfort partnering with cloud-native engineering teams; appreciation for hybrid-architecture realities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to present operational posture to executive leadership.
Preferred:
• Experience supporting streaming media, video distribution, or content delivery infrastructure.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, configuration management, and modern observability tooling.
• Background managing infrastructure that handles regulated or privacy-sensitive data.
