Position Summary

The firm is seeking a Senior Paralegal with deep, hands-on medical malpractice experience to support a partner across a portfolio of complex personal injury and medical malpractice matters. This is a senior, substantive role for a paralegal who can take a file from A to Z with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned paralegal who has spent the majority of their career immersed in medical malpractice work, who can read and interpret medical records with confidence, who knows the pre-suit and litigation landscape of Florida med mal practice cold, and who thrives in a high-stakes plaintiff environment supporting attorneys who fight hard for their clients.

Core Responsibilities

The Senior Paralegal will own the full lifecycle of personal injury and medical malpractice files, including:

  • — Managing personal injury and medical malpractice cases from intake through resolution, with full case ownership and accountability
  • — Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and related litigation correspondence
  • — Obtaining, organizing, and reviewing voluminous medical records, billing records, and imaging across multiple providers
  • — Building detailed medical chronologies, timelines, and bill specials to support case strategy and damages presentation
  • — Coordinating with treating physicians, expert witnesses, and consulting medical experts on record review and testimony preparation
  • — Managing the pre-suit notice of intent process under Florida medical malpractice statutes, including authorization for release of medical records and presuit investigation
  • — Preparing deposition summaries and digesting transcripts to identify key testimony and impeachment material
  • — Managing trial calendars, hearing dates, and statute of limitations across an active docket with precision
  • — Coordinating mediation preparation, including damages packages, demand materials, and supporting documentation
  • — Supporting trial preparation through exhibit organization, witness file preparation, and trial binder assembly
  • — Maintaining direct communication with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and medical providers
  • — Handling state court e-filings in Florida and managing all related procedural compliance

Qualifications

  • — Minimum 8 years of paralegal experience, with significant and recent concentration in medical malpractice
  • — Deep, hands-on Florida medical malpractice experience required, including pre-suit notice procedures, medical record review, expert coordination, and trial preparation
  • — Strong personal injury litigation background to complement the medical malpractice focus
  • — Ability to take a file from A to Z independently, including pre-suit investigation through trial preparation, with minimal supervision
  • — Exceptional medical record review and interpretation skills, with the ability to build complex chronologies and identify standard-of-care issues
  • — Strong writing, research, and case management skills
  • — Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred
  • — Paralegal certificate or degree preferred
  • — Proficiency with case management systems, document management, and Florida state e-filing
  • — A proactive, detail-oriented work style with excellent judgment and the ability to anticipate attorney needs
