Senior Legal Secretary - Medical Malpractice Defense

Location: Coral Gables, FL

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

A well-established litigation defense firm is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Secretary to support the firm's Managing Shareholder and lead a busy litigation support team. This position requires a highly organized, energetic, personable, and knowledgeable professional with extensive Medical Malpractice Defense experience.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, capable of working independently, exercising sound judgment, and managing a high-volume litigation desk in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide high-level support to the Managing Shareholder on Medical Malpractice Defense matters

· Serve as a lead member of the legal support team and assist with workflow coordination

· Draft, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and reports

· E-file pleadings in Florida state and federal courts

· Manage complex attorney calendars, scheduling, deadlines, and court appearances

· Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, trials, and other litigation-related events

· Maintain case files and communicate with clients, courts, experts, and opposing counsel

· Prepare exhibits, trial binders, discovery materials, and litigation documents

· Ensure deadlines are met and cases are managed efficiently from inception through trial

Qualifications

· 5+ years of litigation legal secretary experience required

· Extensive Medical Malpractice Defense experience is required

· Prior experience supporting senior attorneys, shareholders, or managing partners strongly preferred

· Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience working with or leading legal support teams

· Knowledge of Florida court rules and e-filing procedures

· Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills

· Excellent typing, proofreading, and document formatting abilities

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Energetic, personable, dedicated, and capable of independent thinking

· Experience with case management and billing systems preferred
