Duties Description Regional Offices Division Buffalo Regional Office Medical Analyst Reference No. BUF_ MA_6450 Application Deadline is July 17, 2026 Salary is $82,953 To be considered for this opportunity, submit a complete application online at ag.ny.gov/job-postings/other Legal Nurse Opportunity for Registered Nurses or Licensed Physicians The Office of the New York State Attorney General's (OAG) Buffalo Regional Office (RO) is seeking an experienced Medical Analyst. This role will support attorneys defending the state against medical malpractice claims and claims for personal injury and/or wrongful death alleged to have been caused by the state or its employees

The Medical Analyst will review and analyze claims and potential claims for medical malpractice and personal injury; assist attorneys in the preparation of answers or other responses to claims under state and federal law; assist in the defense of cases, including participating in the discovery process; draft chronologies which outline the medical treatment rendered to patients; research medical topics relevant to medical malpractice cases; assist attorneys on medical issues and on communication with medical staff at correctional facilities and other medical facilities; and assist with trial preparation, including coordinating logistics for expert medical witness testimony and preparing exhibits for use in court. In addition, the Medical Analyst will assist in searching for and retaining experts needed to defend cases; upload medical records/chronologies and other documentation related to the case into OAG's case management system and routinely update the system; and assist with maintaining library books and supplies. The Medical Analyst will also assist the RO with other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, handling correspondence and legal documents; administrative duties; and supporting other special projects/assignments, when needed.

Minimum Qualifications The ideal candidate must have a current license and be registered to practice as a registered professional nurse or licensed physician in New York state. Applicants who have at least three (3) years of registered nursing experience or licensed physician experience in one or more of the following areas: Rehabilitation, Occupation Health, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, or Medical/Surgical are preferred. Additional Comments The annual salary for this position is $82,953.
