Remote Litigation Paralegal (Defense) – As-Needed / Project-Based
Compensation: $40–$50/hour
Location: Remote (Firm based in Los Angeles, CA)
Position Overview
A Los Angeles–based defense law firm is seeking an experienced Remote Litigation Paralegal to assist on an as-needed, project-based basis. This role will primarily support the firm with written discovery responses in California civil litigation matters. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and well-versed in California discovery procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Draft and prepare responses to:
Organize, review, and analyze discovery materials and client documents
Coordinate with attorneys to incorporate legal strategy, objections, and revisions
Ensure discovery responses comply with California Code of Civil Procedure and applicable deadlines
Format, proofread, and finalize discovery responses for service
Manage discovery-related follow-ups as needed (supplements, verifications, exhibits)
Time Commitment
As-needed / project-based
Estimated 18–22 total hours per full set of discovery responses (Form Interrogatories, Special Interrogatories, RFPs, and RFAs combined)
No guaranteed weekly hours; workload will vary based on case needs
Qualifications
Prior experience as a litigation paralegal in a defense firm
Strong working knowledge of California civil discovery rules and procedures
Demonstrated experience drafting discovery responses independently
Excellent written communication, organization, and time management skills
Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and legal document formatting
Preferred (but Not Required)
Experience supporting insurance defense, general liability, or complex civil litigation
Familiarity with e-filing and electronic service in California courts
