JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant in our Medicine Specialties of South Durham - Rheumatology located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Medical and Nursing Staff in a variety of tasks including: Taking medical histories and recording vital signs,
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
  • Authorize drug refills as directed
  • Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
  • Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examinations and procedures

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
  • High school or GED graduation required.
    Level I -- No experience required.
  • Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
  • BLS required.

The schedule for this position would be day shifts Monday to Friday.
