Ophthalmic Coding & Revenue Cycle SpecialistFull job description

Richie Eye Clinic & LASIK Center, is a dynamic, high-volume clinical and surgical practice featuring a team of three ophthalmologists and five optometrists, complemented by a modern, fashion-forward optical boutique. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Ophthalmic Coding & Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our team! At Richie Eye Clinic & LASIK Center, our team of doctors and staff have passion for what they do and are dedicated to making a difference!

Here are some of the key functions of the role:

  • Calculate and communicate patient financial responsibility estimates, including deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays for office visits and surgical procedures
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to services
  • Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement
  • Analyze denials and underpayments; identify trends and implement corrective actions
  • Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for ophthalmic office visits, procedures, and surgical services in a backup role.
  • Provide strong attention to detail and appropriate follow-up with patients and team
  • Have a "go-getter" attitude and team-first mindset

Qualified candidates will possess strong attention to detail, ability to efficiently multi-task, and be a quick-learner. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate medical coding, insurance billing, and reimbursement optimization for both clinic and surgical services. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of insurance processes, and the ability to calculate and communicate patient financial responsibility estimates. Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word. Previous experience working with medical insurance billing or work in a clinical setting required. Position will be based in our Faribault, MN office and is eligible for a hybrid role. Candidate must have a reliable internet connection to be considered for remote work.
