Job description

Purpose of Position
Nursing Assistant Performs as a member of the Nursing Team various duties assisting Staff Nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Description
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  2. Identify and locate needed accessories to facilitate transport.
  3. Answering call lights.
  4. Making beds both empty and occupied.
  5. Setting up all equipment routinely used on their home base units.
  6. Preparing room for admission.
  7. Assist with patient discharges
  8. Removal of linens.
  9. Answering telephone.
  10. Must wear facility provided identification badge.
  11. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family member, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
  12. Facilitate communication to RNs to provide best care possible for patients
  13. Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor.
Additional PATIENT SERVICE ASSISTANT PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Transports patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
  2. Vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and non-invasive specimen collection.
  3. Turning and positioning patients, range of motion, ambulation, and toiletry.
  4. Assistance with all ADL's and complete care as needed.
  5. Setting up, assisting and educating patients, with commodes, bedpans, urinals, sitz baths, walkers, wheelchairs, slings, venodyne boots, crutches, specific precautions- with input from PT as needed
  6. Appropriate emptying and/or recording of all drainage devices.
  7. Postmortem care.

  • Ability to read, write and communication in English
  • Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Apprenticeship Program
  • The Nursing Assistant Registered Apprenticeship Program:

  1. 1. Includes a classroom curriculum with an accredited Nursing Assistant Program

  1. 3. Must successfully complete Program within 6 months of hire into Trainee role

  • Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00333.

  • Ability to read, write and communication in English
  • Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will - Train program
  • Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will -Train program, successful passage of the Falmouth Hospital written competency exam for N ursing Assistant
  • Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00333
