Summary

  • POSITION SUMMARY
    • Position Summary:
      • This position is a part of Salina Regional Health Center's Medical Assistant (MA) Program with Barton Community College. Upon hire, the MA Student will actively enroll in the online MA program through Barton Community College. Under the supervision of a professional nurse, team lead, or supervisor in the department, the MA Student assists departments in clinical settings to provide quality care. This includes scheduling patient appointments, taking vital signs, transporting patients, clerical support, observation & and surveillance to prevent patient injury, and helping the professional nurse with interventions. The MA Student also interacts with other departments as needed, performs cleaning, and restocks supplies, all under the direction of their appropriate supervisor. Upon graduation from the MA Program, the student will be eligible to take the exam to earn the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
    • Minimum Education
      • High School graduate or GED
      • Completion of a certified nursing assistant training course
    • Minimum Experience
      • 1-2 years nurse assistant experience preferred
      • Completion of CMA coursework within two years of hire.
    • Required Registration/License/Certification
      • Basic Life Support certification from either American Red Cross/AED for the Health Care Provider, or Basic Life Support (American Heart Association- Health Care Provider) successfully completed within the first 90 days of employment.
      • Completion of medical assisting training program, within 1 year of hire, offered through Salina Regional Health Center.
