Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN) is the premier Arabic-first media organization that connects the Middle East and the United States. The company is in the midst of an exciting digital transformation and looking for energetic and talented people who care about journalism and the Middle East to join us on this journey.
We provide original and indispensable reporting, perspectives and commentary on the Middle East and how America's engagement impacts the region. MBN delivers content in both Arabic and English across multiple platforms, in formats including written articles, short-form video, newsletters, podcasts, data trackers and social media.
Our target audience is decision-makers, influencers, and residents of key capitals across the Middle East, as well as the next generation of globally engaged, digitally connected youth.
About the Role
The Social Media Editor supports the preparation, editing, and publication of social media content that reflects MBN's editorial standards, visual identity, and audience needs. MBN's journalism reaches audiences across digital and social platforms, often before they visit the website.
This role requires strong Arabic-language social media judgment, the ability to tailor content across platforms, and a clear understanding of how audiences engage with news on Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following tasks are considered essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions:
  • Support daily social media publishing across Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook, with Arabic as the primary language and English as needed based on platform and audience.
  • Write and edit social copy in Arabic and English, including captions, headlines, thread text, and video text overlays, ensuring each version is tailored to the intended platform and audience.
  • Produce and edit short-form vertical video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, either independently or in coordination with the visual production team.
  • Monitor breaking news and prepare social-first content with a focus on accuracy, relevance, and timely publication.
  • Review social performance metrics and provide editorial recommendations based on audience engagement, reach, and platform trends.
  • Coordinate with correspondents, producers, and editors to identify stories with strong social media potential and package them appropriately for each platform.
  • Apply knowledge of platform-specific audience behavior and regional Arabic-language social media trends to improve content relevance and engagement.
  • Monitor misinformation and disinformation trends on Arabic-language social platforms and flag relevant issues for editorial consideration.
  • Maintain MBN's editorial tone, visual identity, and quality standards across social media platforms.

Other Duties:
Perform additional job-related duties and take on new responsibilities as needed based on organizational requirements and circumstances.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates are required to have:
  • Full professional fluency in Arabic, including the ability to write and edit social media copy to publication standard.
  • Professional working proficiency in English preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of social media editing, social media production, or audience engagement experience in a news or media organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Arabic-language social media audiences across different regional markets.
  • Experience producing or editing short-form vertical video for social platforms.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and the ability to use data to support editorial recommendations.
  • Strong news judgment, accuracy, and ability to identify when content requires senior editorial review.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced digital news environment.

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience working with Arabic-language news audiences across the Gulf, Levant, North Africa, Iraq, or other MENA markets.
  • Experience with social media publishing tools, analytics dashboards, and digital audience platforms.
