As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will be the primary technical counterpart to our production floor—serving as the bridge between high-level engineering concepts and physical, flight-ready hardware.We work across diverse tech branches, so if you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, you’ll love it here. You need to be as comfortable building rapid prototypes and troubleshooting on the shop floor as you are releasing clean 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.Essential Job Functions• Create precise 3D digital models and release 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. Manage assemblies, configuration control, and Indented Bills of Materials (BOMs).• Work hand-in-hand with technicians and machinists to apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) principles, ensuring new concepts are practical and efficient to build.• Perform worst-case tolerance stack-up analyses and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T per ASME Y14.5) to ensure proper part fit and interchangeability.• Procure components, fabricate prototype assemblies, and support environmental qualification testing (shock, vibration, thermal) to validate hardware against real-world conditions.• Perform hand calculations and baseline Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate structural and thermal performance prior to physical testing.• Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and Material Review Boards (MRB).
