IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Seattle, WA or the Portland/Vancouver area. Over 10-12 weeks,you'llassistin the analysis, design, andimplementationoversight of mechanical systems for a variety of building types while gaining hands-on experience alongside experienced engineers and consultants.

In this role,you'llsupport project goals by working within project budgets, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to coordinated building-system design across hospitality, mixed-use, government, and MEP markets.You'llgain real project experience while supporting high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

• Assistwith mechanical system design for projectsin accordance withcode and IMEG standards

• Assistwith engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry

• Support equipment research and selection for commercially available systems

• Helpmaintainclient relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation

• Assistwith coordination of design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams

• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions whilemonitoringproject design progress

• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check

• Assistwith preparation and issuance of addendum information

• Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement

• Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations

What You'll Bring

Required

Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting

• Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software

• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

The active results show recurring mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology scope, withadditionalsupport in energy modeling, commissioning, telecom, security, and architectural lighting on larger coordinated efforts.

• The team showsparticular strengthin urban residential developments, mixed-use projects, transportation and access improvements, parks, school district work, and hospitality renovations. It handles complex, highly coordinated projects rather than narrow single-discipline scopes.

• Recent work includes Overlake East Phase I, Housing / Multi-family, and Sound Transit Auburn Station Parking & Access Improvement, Transportation.

State of Washington Salary Range: $22-24 per hour

The range listed aboverepresentsthe base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work locationidentifiedabove at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will bedeterminedbased on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
