Job description

Job Title: Acoustic Measurement Engineer
Job Description

The Acoustic Measurement Engineer will join an acoustic design and development team focused on creating outstanding audio user experiences in consumer electronic devices. In this role, you prototype and evaluate new audio technologies, perform detailed acoustic and audio hardware measurements, and collect and analyze data throughout multiple phases of product development. You validate audio performance through measurements and user studies, contribute to product specifications that enable advanced audio features, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in software, hardware integration, and user interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive audio and acoustical measurements across acoustical and electrical domains, including frequency response, distortion, impedance, and related parameters.
  • Perform acoustic measurements using Head and Torso Simulators (HATS) in various environments such as anechoic and reverberant test chambers.
  • Test electronics and digital signal processing (DSP) for audio quality, speech intelligibility, signal-to-noise ratio improvement (SNRi), distortion, transfer functions, and other key performance metrics.
  • Create, refine, and follow detailed test procedures to ensure accurate, repeatable, and reproducible measurement results.
  • Present, categorize, and interpret measurement data, providing clear documentation and communication of findings to project stakeholders.
  • Help introduce new test methods and integrate them into the existing data management system to improve efficiency and coverage.
  • Generate, organize, and validate result data in support of projects that operate under tight and fixed timelines.
  • Work in a highly detail-oriented manner to maintain consistency and quality across all testing activities.
  • Maintain a functional, safe, and organized laboratory environment, including identifying and communicating maintenance and improvement needs.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with audio hardware testing.
  • Strong experience conducting audio and acoustic measurements, including frequency response, distortion, and impedance, across acoustical and electrical domains.
  • Proficiency with audio lab tools such as HATS and measurement microphones.
