Job description

Characteristics of Work

This position is responsible for transporting program participants from rural areas of Hinds County to various destinations within Hinds County in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations of the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). The work also involves transporting meals to the elderly and disabled once a week.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the Agency.

ransports program participants to social services agencies, shopping, medical appointments, recreational activities, and other personal destinations.

Delivers meals to program participants in their home once a week.

Completes passenger trip logs specifying the number of passengers, type and number of trips taken and trip purposes.

Performs routine preventative maintenance and daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicle.

Informs supervisor of any vehicle maintenance and repair needs in a timely manner.

Takes vehicles to the shop for maintenance, repairs and required state inspections.

Reports any traffic violations and/or accidents to supervisor and other proper authorities.

Prepares all necessary reports and records as required by the Agency and funding sources.

Attends all annual training in accordance with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) mandatory training requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

Attends all required staff meetings.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Ability to communicate effectively. Must possess a valid Mississippi Commercial Driverโ€™s License with โ€œPโ€ Endorsement.

AND

Applicant must submit to and pass drug screening tests as outlined by Hinds County Human Resource Agencyโ€™s Personnel Policies and Procedures.

Since 1976, Hinds County Human Resource Agency (HCHRA) has fought to eradicate poverty and empower citizens in Hinds County, Mississippi. HCHRA, a public, non-profit Community Action Agency, was created by the Hinds County Board of Supervisors to administer various services to assist disadvantaged citizens. Led by the President and Chief Executive Officer, approximately 400 employees provide services, including Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, rural transportation for the elderly and disabled, home-delivered meals, home energy assistance, and case management. Using a comprehensive delivery system, HCHRA provides services to eligible clients, funded by public, private, and local sources.
