Description
General Labor staff will perform labor in landscaping/grounds maintenance, as well as operating a truck or light power-driven equipment in the downtown area. This position is up to 40 hours a week with the ability to work for 7 months. Opportunity to work flexible hours between 6am-4pm Monday through Friday.
Essential Functions
  • Re-establishes surfaces in soils and roadways.
  • Assists water division employees with delinquent processing.
  • Painting of fire hydrants and buildings.
  • Performs grounds maintenance at various water division facilities such as lawn mowing, snow removal, and pulling weeds.
  • Assists in various other maintenance tasks at water division facilities.
  • Operate equipment of various sizes, up to a one-truck and/or light equipment.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a valid unrestricted driver license with a good driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to be considered.
  • Ability to pass MDOT physical.
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.

Expected to perform the following or it is a critical part of the position: Standing, walking, driving a motor vehicle, lifting (over 50 lbs.), pushing or pulling, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, squatting, reaching, grasping, holding, repetitive movements, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, depth perception, and field of vision), hearing, talking, and working inside and outside. Working in wet surroundings, around loud noises, in low temperature and inclement weather, around dust and/or fumes, and working with cleaning solvents, gasoline, and fuel oil.
