Asphalt & Concrete Maintenance Technician

Sarasota, FL

Starting Pay: $20.10/hr.

Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire for the Right Candidate


Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Two years of experience in construction, roadway maintenance, or repair of vehicle and pedestrian travel systems

• Experience operating equipment used for concrete and asphalt maintenance and repairs

• Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record

• Ability to obtain a CDL Class B license within 6 months of hire (County provides training and fee reimbursement)

• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions

• Drug-free workplace and background checks required

This position performs roadway, sidewalk, drainage, and right-of-way maintenance and repair work throughout Sarasota County. Duties include concrete sidewalk and curb repair, asphalt patching and pothole repair, drainage pipe installation, traffic control setup, debris removal, tree trimming, roadway grading, and stormwater system maintenance.

Candidates will also operate equipment including dump trucks, skid loaders, backhoes, loaders, excavators, chainsaws, and other tools used in roadway and right-of-way maintenance. All work is performed to DOT specifications with a strong focus on safety and teamwork.

This is a hands-on position ideal for candidates with construction, asphalt, concrete, roadway, utilities, landscaping, or heavy equipment experience looking for long-term career potential.
