Job description

Purpose:

The MCR Operations Team is responsible for managing and coordinating NEP’s transmission requirements via satellite, fiber and IP. The candidate will join NEP’s staffing rotation, helping to deliver services effectively and efficiently. The MCR Operator position will require late nights, weekends and holidays, 40 hours per week, with the potential for overtime. This is a full time position. You must be bilingual (English/Spanish). We are looking for a driven, self-motivated individual. The ideal candidate is well organized and has the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Routing various signals according to booking information following workflows and procedures

  • Managing daily workloads and responsibilities with other team members

  • Quality Control for video and audio transmissions

  • Troubleshooting technical issues and escalating to Engineer-in-Charge or providers

  • Booking and operating third party services, including space segment, fiber circuits, etc.

  • Handling client transmission requests via phone and email

  • Reporting and documenting technical issues

  • Operates all broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas, including but not limited to organization and distribution of all server content used for recording and playback during control room productions.

  • Participates in special event coverage and projects as necessary

Position Requirements:

  • 2nd Language: Particularly Spanish

  • Ability to achieve minimal fault with work completed

  • Effective troubleshooting/problem solving skills

  • 2 Years working in a broadcast environment

  • Familiarity with broadcast equipment, including routers, waveform monitors, receivers and VTR Decks

  • Familiarity with Satellite transmissions and RF delivery

  • Excellent Computer Skills

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • Customer service skills

  • Preferred knowledge/experience

  • Familiarity with MCR/Transmission facility

  • HD knowledge

  • QC Experience

  • Postproduction environment

  • Working with new media, encoding and streaming technologies
