Scope
The Director, Marketing & Partnerships (Director) is a strategic, high-energy leader responsible for expanding the Paley Center's reach and reputation by cultivating partnerships, building and nurturing audiences, and leading creative marketing and promotional campaigns. The Director plays a key role in advancing the Paley Center's mission by developing mutually beneficial relationships with external organizations, driving visitor growth, and overseeing the production of dynamic content and collateral that elevates the brand.
The Director serves as a key strategic partner and right hand in identifying new opportunities, executing special projects, and aligning marketing and partnership efforts with organizational goals. The Director manages the Audience Development Manager and works cross-functionally to deliver measurable results.
The Director is responsible for growing the Paley brand through:
  • Visitor traffic to the iconic, flagship Paley Museum in NYC
  • Tickets sales/registration for all Paley events in NY and LA
  • Memberships across all levels including public and industry
  • Increased viewership and engagement with Paley's digital content
  • Driving cross functional team to deliver on integrated campaign initiatives to meeting business objectives

Responsibilities
Partnership Development & External Relations
  • Proactively identify and cultivate partnerships with NYC-based businesses, tourism and hospitality entities, cultural institutions, and other organizations with aligned audiences
  • Build and maintain long-term, high-value relationships with external partners to enhance visibility, engagement, and co-branded opportunities
  • Negotiate and manage partnership terms, deliverables, benefits, and timelines with support from legal and finance
  • Serve as lead account manager for media and promotional partners to ensure fulfillment of all obligations, from ad specs to post-run reports
  • Represent the Paley Center externally as a brand ambassador at events and in stakeholder meetings

Audience Development & Team Leadership
  • Supervise and support the Audience Development Manager to achieve audience growth and visitation goals across all key programs and events
  • Design and implement audience development strategies to drive attendance, ticket sales, and memberships
  • Identify and explore new audience segments through data analysis, community outreach, and collaborative promotions
  • Lead strategic outreach for major exhibitions, tentpole events, and invitation-only programs

Creative Direction & Campaign Management
  • Oversee the development and execution of compelling creative marketing campaigns in collaboration with internal teams and external agencies
  • Develop media campaigns and identify key media outlets and marketing partners to reach key audiences and demographics
  • Develop campaign briefs, messaging frameworks, and creative direction aligned with brand voice and strategic goals
  • Direct video editors and the Creative Services team on promotional materials, marketing videos, and sales collateral
  • Work with key internal stakeholders for the development of key marketing and sales materials including brand guidelines and experience, sizzle reels and marketing videos as well as Paley overview, marketing, sales materials and presentations, recap reports, and other marketing materials
  • Ensure delivery of assets across print, digital, and social platforms and that all creative aligns with specs, deadlines, and brand standards
  • Monitor campaign performance in collaboration with the Director of Digital Marketing & Growth Analytics, applying insights to optimize future efforts

Other Responsibilities
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to utilize the CRM for segmented outreach and track partnership engagement
  • Conduct market and audience research and integrate insights into campaign planning
  • Support the VP, Marketing & Partnerships on organization-wide strategic initiatives and special projects
  • Engage as a Paley Ambassador for social media initiatives by actively sharing Paley's social media posts within one's own networks, to amplify the organization's reach and foster community engagement
  • Participate in other projects as assigned by Paley executive team

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in partnership development, marketing, or brand strategy within media, entertainment, cultural institutions, or related industries
  • Demonstrated success in growing external partnerships and audience engagement
  • Proven ability to lead creative campaigns and direct internal and external creative teams
  • Strong understanding of digital and experiential marketing trends
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to represent Paley with excellence in the C-suite of corporate partners, a prominent outside Board, and with our executives
  • Highly collaborative and strong consensus builder that has ability to be an influencer that drives the business forward
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends to support live events and museum programming
  • Ability to travel, as necessary, and to work weekends, early morning/evening hours, when necessary, to support Paley events and programs
  • Strong work ethic with desire and preference to work in-person as part of a cohesive, collaborative, high-energy, in-the-office work environment
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish a plus

Total Compensation Range: $100,000 - $150,000
