How does a Marketing Video Editor typically collaborate with other teams on a project?

A Marketing Video Editor works closely with marketing strategists, graphic designers, copywriters, and sometimes product managers to ensure that video content aligns with campaign goals and brand messaging. Regular communication is essential—editors often attend brainstorming sessions, share rough cuts for feedback, and revise based on input from stakeholders. This collaborative process helps deliver engaging and effective videos that support the broader marketing strategy while meeting tight deadlines and adapting to evolving project needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Marketing Video Editor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Marketing Video Editor, you need expertise in video editing, storytelling, and a strong understanding of branding, typically supported by a degree in film, media, or a related field. Proficiency with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and familiarity with digital asset management systems is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help you collaborate with marketing teams and produce engaging content. These skills ensure the delivery of compelling and on-brand videos that effectively engage target audiences and drive marketing objectives.

What does a Marketing Video Editor do?

Marketing Video Editors play a vital role in helping businesses communicate visually and drive engagement through compelling video content.

What is the 80 20 rule in video editing?

What is the 321 rule of video editing?

For a marketing video editor, applying this rule helps create concise, engaging content that effectively communicates the intended message and prompts viewer response.

Is AI replacing video editors?

AI technology is increasingly used to assist video editors by automating tasks such as editing, color correction, and effects, but it does not fully replace the creative and decision-making skills of a professional video editor. Human editors are still essential for storytelling, nuanced editing, and quality control, especially in marketing videos where creativity and brand consistency are important. Proficiency with editing software and understanding AI tools can enhance a video editor's efficiency and output.

Full-time

Job description

The Performance Video Editor is responsible for turning raw footage into high-performing, conversion-driven creative across paid social and short-form platforms.
This is not a cinematic storytelling role. It is a growth-critical editing role where pacing, hooks, retention, and iteration matter more than polish for polish's sake.
You will edit UGC, talking heads, product demos, AI-generated content, and campaign creatives with one goal: drive measurable performance while maintaining brand integrity.
We're looking for someone who understands that editing is strategy, not just software.
What You'll Own
Performance Editing
  • Edit short-form paid ads for Meta, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms
  • Build high-retention hooks in the first 3 seconds
  • Optimize pacing, rhythm, and visual pattern interrupts
  • Tailor edits to specific campaign objectives (acquisition, retargeting, education, AI-native creative, etc.)
  • Rapidly iterate variations for testing
Creative Strategy Support
  • Identify winning creative patterns and apply learnings to new edits
  • Recreate reference styles and improve them
  • Adapt editing style based on:
    • ICP
    • Product
    • Funnel stage
    • Platform norms
  • Contribute ideas to improve creative briefs
Brand Consistency
  • Maintain strong understanding of Everyday Dose's brand identity
  • Ensure visual cohesion across paid and organic channels
  • Balance performance-driven edits with brand trust and tone
Production Problem-Solving
  • Creatively solve footage or production limitations
  • Improve average footage through editing choices
  • Work across:
    • UGC
    • Talking heads
    • Product shots
    • AI-generated assets
    • Mixed-media content

Requirements
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (comfortable switching tools if needed)
  • Basic After Effects (text animation, motion graphics, light VFX)
  • Basic Photoshop (asset preparation)
  • Strong audio fundamentals:
    • Music selection
    • Sound design & SFX
    • Sync & pacing
    • Basic mixing
  • Able to quickly adapt to new editing tools and workflows

Strategic & Creative Thinking
  • Understands how editing drives conversion and retention, not just aesthetics
  • Strong instinct for hooks, pacing, and audience psychology
  • Knows how to identify winning ad patterns and scale them
  • Comfortable editing for:
    • Direct response
    • Performance marketing
    • Paid social environments
  • Adapts editing approach to campaign objective and audience
  • Studies trends, competitors, and evolving creative formats proactively

Communication & Collaboration
  • Communicates proactively with creative and growth teams
  • Quickly interprets creative briefs into executable edits
  • Accepts feedback professionally and iterates quickly
  • Can clearly explain editing decisions and tradeoffs
  • Thrives in a fast-paced testing environment

Experience
  • 3-7+ years of professional video editing experience
  • Strong portfolio showcasing short-form, performance-driven ad creatives
  • Proven experience in:
    • Paid social
    • Direct response
    • Performance marketing environments
  • Experience working with UGC-heavy creative is highly preferred

What Success Looks Like
  • Ads consistently improve retention and performance metrics
  • Creative testing velocity increases
  • Winning patterns are systematized, not one-offs
  • Editing enhances brand trust while driving measurable results
  • The creative team becomes faster and more data-informed

Growth Mindset
  • Actively studies platform trends and competitor ads
  • Seeks out new techniques and tools independently
  • Eager to improve skills and expand creative range
  • Comfortable evolving style based on performance data
