Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will support material planning and/or material coordination for a large project site. Planning will include implementation of the Material Management Plan. Coordination will include serving as a liaison between Project and Field Procurement and Construction for accurate reporting of materials. Your efforts will ensure the site receives materials required for work package installation.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Serves as liaison at a project site between Project Supply Chain for reporting of undelivered materials, Field Supply Chain for stored materials, and Construction personnel for accurate reporting of materials required for work package installation
  • Coordinates with responsible groups that materials are provided in a timely manner and in sufficient quantity to support the completion of construction work Implements the planned construction activities and work packaging structure on the project through coordination with Field Engineering, Construction, and/or Subcontractors, and Project Controls
  • Ensures accurate distribution of materials to Construction and/or Subcontractor installation locations Determines, with the functional groups, the best strategy for fabricated systems that provide the most overall value on the project Implements planned inventory control mechanisms, such as min-max and bag-and-tag and uses the Supply Chain Automation tools to ensure that construction material requirements are met Identifies early on which surplus or unneeded materials should be returned to storage Coordinates material availability in support of design revisions, rework, contingency, or work-around plans
  • Participates in Construction and/or Subcontractor planning meetings to be fully aware of changes in installation plans and priorities Coordinates with warehouse personnel for materials to be issued direct to the installation area, as opposed to being controlled in storage
  • Coordinates the constructability look ahead meetings
  • Prepares the site constructability reports as inclusive of 30, 60, and 90-day lookaheads Utilizes the materials components of the project Automation Plan (used by functional groups) to monitor related data transfers between the functional groups
  • Adheres to the Materials Management Plan with respect to applicable commodity groups
Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5 years of relevant experience or 7-8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge in Materials Management including the use of material allocation tools, inventory controls, material demand forecast planning, schedule/cost risk mitigation and metrics/reporting. 
  • Familiarity with procurement, expediting, and logistics activities to support a global materials management program. Demonstrates advanced skills in developing and upskilling team members, working and communicating effectively with all levels of project functional groups.
  • Preference to be familiar with Incoterms.
